Sanlam Developing Markets [SDM] (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited) is one of the top financial services providers in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market. It aims to understand the unique requirements of clients and offers a wide range of simple and affordable financial solutions that cover needs such as funeral insurance, savings for education, life cover and personal accident plans. In terms of the Sanlam Group Governance Policy, SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster, which is part of the Sanlam Life and Savings cluster within the Sanlam Group. The cluster focusses on retail products, as well as group schemes. What will you do?
The role Head: Tied Agency Channel is accountable for providing leadership and coordination in the execution of policies related to the sales of the Tied Agency Channel. This will be done by implementing a robust Tied Agency strategy to achieve the targets as well as manage performance, contracting, coaching, training while nurturing a high-performance, entrepreneurial and inclusive culture. The team is split into different regions in South Africa, with a staff complement of over 3500. The Head: Tied Agency Channel will be tasked with enhancing the way products are distributed to clients which is to be anchored in appropriate advice and client centricity. What will make you successful in this role?
Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual business planning for the distribution. This includes formulating metrics, targets, goals, expense budgets, market penetration plans and tactics, marketing plans and tactics, value propositions and strategies.
Accountable for annual budget planning and approval, as well as for the operational execution and oversight of the budget for the distribution channel (expense management, sales, settlement agreements, cost centre management, office spaces, etc.).
Accountable for generating and overseeing the execution of brand positioning strategies across distribution that enhance the brand’s visibility, perception and representation in the market.
Define, communicate and maintain a brand framework (policies, standards, processes, systems, etc.) to enable a consistent brand experience across various cohorts.
Translate the channel strategy and business plan into key objectives and targets and ensure these objectives are communicated and cascaded across the channel.
Enable the accreditation and continuous professional growth of staff, as well as coaching and development programmes.
Accountable for compiling and delivering relevant management and executive reporting. Qualification and Experience Degree with 8 to 10 years related experience.
